1-) A box of clothing blocking my lane. One of the items was a dress with large polka dots that I assumed belonged to Minnie Mouse since polka dots are her identifying factor. Driving around the box, I questioned what my identifying factor might be. What would need to be spread across the highway for people to immediately think: KC Conrow?
I used to love those Hostess chocolate cupcakes with the squiggle on top. I liked to put them in a bowl, cover them with milk and eat them with a spoon — too mushy for an identifying factor. How about loyalty and kindness? For that level of kindness I would have needed to get out of my car and pull the clothing box out of the road, a thought that didn’t occur to me until now.
My friend, Karen, might immediately think of me if she drove over a Formosa Harbor menu. That’s where we lunched multiple times a week while going through our divorces. Menus; cupcakes; not quite the punch of Minnie’s polka dots.
Maybe character traits — at whatever level we can muster — will do just fine for identifiers. KC Conrow: she was mostly loyal.
